8 Clean Products for Healthy Skin

Paulina Kajankova

While scanning your bathroom shelf and cleaning up your act has become easier than ever, navigating the market for truly green and chemical-free products can still be confusing. Thanks to brand creators that care about your health first and foremost, I’ve compiled a list of some of my favorite products that are clean, gentle, and effective. There’s still a lot of work to do, but cultivating a healthier life and a cleaner beauty routine feels liberating.

Planted In Beauty Soothe + Soften Cleansing Emulsion After years of working the corporate grind at La Prairie, the founders of Planted In Beauty have diverted their journey toward wellness. Lynne Florio and Renee Tavoularis launched a skincare line that comes from the best of nature, but you should know that they care about more than your skin. They believe beautiful skin comes from glowing health, and their web destination provides educational information on ingredients, nutrition, and overall wellbeing. I find the Cleansing Emulsion to be one of the gentlest cleansers I have ever used. It feels as if my skin is being caressed clean, and I trust the integrity of the ingredients. The brand is vegan, up to Ecocert standards, and EWG verified.

Consonant Come Clean 100% Natural Bamboo Cleansing Cloths Our planet’s health matters just as much as our own. Knowing that the use of cleansing cloths is not great for the environment, whenever I do reach for one, I like to make sure that they are biodegradable. Consonant’s natural cleansing cloths stay impressively sealed and do not dry out—and the effectiveness of their award winning HydrExtreme Serum wowed me. If you’re looking to fill your cabinets with products that work, keep this Canadian brand at the top of your list. Fans of cleansing cloths will love how gentle and hydrating these cloths are on the delicate eye area.=

Get Your Glow On

MyChelle Perfect C Pro Speed Peel MyChelle carries an extensive line of smart products, with options for every complexion. The powerful skincare lines comes with shining reports of full transparency into ingredients and manufacturing practices. If you are someone who loves a good peel, why not use one that lists its ingredients on the label? The Perfect C Pro Speed Peel is fast and easy to use, providing you with all the benefits of any powerful peel, but is gentle enough for sensitive skin types like me. Whenever I use it, I gain a skin glow to be proud of and smooth skin that lasts for days.

aroma M beauty Prickly Pear Face Oil For unpretentious, artisanal, and natural skincare I go to Maria McElroy. After speaking with the founder of aroma M perfumes and beauty, and getting the chance to test the goods, I am a reaffirmed believer in oils. Maria McElroy has been in the business for a long time and knows a thing or two about sourcing unique ingredients from near and far locations, then creating batches of powerful products. The Prickly Pear Face Oil is a potent elixir that works on any complexion. While the oil easily melts into your skin without leaving a greasy residue, it can double as a natural fragrance. The benefits are hydrated and luminous skin.

Source Vitál Apothecary Algae Deep Scrub Source Vitál started out by creating small batches of handcrafted products for individuals and spas. Today, the products are even more consumer driven but with the same spa quality. When I want to transform my personal space into a spa-like environment, I go to professional brands that have been there since the beginning. A little goes a long way with this scrub. The texture and scent make me feel Zen, while my skin feels gently polished.

Grooming & Hygiene

World’s Best Tweezers™ by Regine Switzerland The name says it all. What I dislike the most about grooming products is their contribution to our throw-away society. Home and hygiene products used to be made to last, and a lot of companies like Regine Switzerland have become extinct. This family owned company is showing no signs of slowing down. They have a long history of entrepreneurship in and innovation in the medical, telecommunication, and space fields. With tweezers, precision is key—and this tweezer nails it. There is no poking or pulling at the hair; it really is a pleasure to use a hand-crafted tool that won’t break or become impractical after a few uses.

Freedom Natural Deodorant

Before I created this list, I tested a number of toxic-free deodorants. Being that we are in the middle of the summer, my search for a natural deodorant turned into frustration. They just did not seem to do the job. I found Freedom deodorant at a spa show, and after giving them a try, I can confirm what their label clearly states. It is a natural deodorant that really works. Now that I found this brand and their luxury deodorant, I want to share it with everyone I know. Freedom impressed me with their dedication to being natural and effective. I am anticipating trying their latest roll-on creation.

Luna Nectar Moon Boost Lash & Brow Enhancing Serum Luna Nectar’s founder speaks my language. This brand was born out of a need to create a lifestyle brand that provides wellness products with integrity for natural beauties. The elixir has a silky texture that is gentle on your brows and lashes, all the while being 100% natural, vegan and cruelty-free. If you take special care of your lashes you might agree that natural options are not widely available. I enjoy using it by simply swiping it on after my nighttime skincare routine. It is made to make your life easier by repairing and strengthening natural lashes, allowing you to go makeup free. This is ideal for those with sensitive skin and eyes.
