I adore you, Teadora

Lily Stroud

Acai. Andiroba. Buriti. Pitanga. No, this isn’t an indigenous spell of sorts—these are just a few of the ingredients, or “icons of the rainforest,” that are lovingly blended together in delicious, natural  and organic formulations that make up Teadora’s line of 10 products.

Teadora translates to “adore you” in Portuguese, and the new line, just launched this past Spring, offers an enticing assortment of exotic elixirs: Rainforest Youth Elixir; Rainforest Hydration Elixir, and Rainforest Restoration Elixir. The new line has all the personal-care bases covered, as there’s also a shampoo and conditioner, body polish, cream, and butter, as well as exfoliating and toning soap bars.

My personal favorites are the lip butter, although the formulation is a bit firm and crumbly (you dip your finger into the little pot for a dab or two), it does hydrate nicely and has a pleasant scent and taste. I also love the two bath oils, Rainforest at Dawn (woodsy, light floral scent, meant to awaken your senses), and Rainforest at Dusk, a relaxing aroma that’s at once flowery and fruity. Although I’ve been known to dump an entire bottle of bath oil into my tub, I’ve been doling these two out very carefully.

This line is all about sensory beauty—an immersion of all of your senses and a vibrant inner and outer celebration of yourself. “At Teadora, we show our love for the world with natural and organic products made with novel rainforest ingredients,” says founder Valerie Cole. “Our products let your experience the bounty and magic of the Amazon, while helping to improve the lives of the communities where we live and do business.”

A nice note: Teadora dedicates a portion of its process to help fund a program called “Earth for you. You for Earth.” It’s a philanthropic exchange between the United States and Brazil to support education, leadership development, health, and rainforest conservation. Who doesn’t adore that?
