Save Face

SPF 25 Rose Tinted Face Sunscreen

There’s a lot to love in this little tube from Badger, one of our favorite family-owned natural companies out of New Hampshire. All of the ingredients in this very sheer tint are sustainably sourced from plants and minerals, and include skin-soothing lavender, rose, and chamomile oils. $19.99,

SPF 30 Daily Defense Moisturizer

Makeup mavens will love this lightweight, waterproof formula that leaves a nice matte finish on your face—ideal for applying underneath your makeup. From the beauty pros at Skin Authority, Daily Defense contains proprietary AOX Technology—a serious blend of antioxidants and essential vitamins, as well as aloe and marine extracts. $42,

SPF 30 Natural Mineral Suncare

Organic aloe and shea butter, plus green tea and jojoba are just a few reasons we like this biodegradable and reef-friendly sunscreen from John Masters. Just make sure you shake the tube well before applying. $32,

Protect Your Bod

SPF 30 Sport Sunscreen

Outdoor enthusiasts, this one’s for you. Water-resistant (up to 80 minutes) and loaded with organic aloe, coconut, and jojoba goodness for super-hydration, this skin-saver from Juice Beauty is tops on our beach-bag list. Has a nice rich formula that perfectly sinks into skin and a natural scent that’s addictive. $16,

SPF 30 Citrus Mimosa Sunscreen Spray

A classic body spritz from Coola, this eco-sized sunscreen spray not only applies well and smells like summer, but contains 70 percent certified organic ingredients like cucumber and red raspberry seed oil. There’s a good reason why this natural brand is beloved by so many. $36,

SPF 45 For Baby

It may be formulated especially for babies, but that didn’t stop us from using this gentle and rich hypoallergenic sunscreen from Hampton Sun. A good alternative for sensitive-skin types, it’s mineral-based and contains skin-soothing chamomile, as well as lavender, olive, and sunflower oils. $28,

Care for Your Hair

Clarifying Lemon Shampoo & Conditioner

Too much time in chlorinated pools can wreak havoc on your hair. Essential oil of lemon, that great clarifier (among many other wonderful things), is the star ingredient in Avalon Organics’ shampoo and conditioner. $11 each,

Suncare Protective Hair Veil

We’ve sworn by this product from Aveda for the past couple of years, and pack it in our bags when headed to our favorite sunny spots. It’s easy to mist over your hair, and helps keep your locks safe from the sun for up to 16 hours. Ingredients like cinnamon bark give natural UVA/UVB protection. $28,

Sublime After Sun Oil

Five luscious oils (including camellia, one of our all-time favorites) combine to create a lovely, light-scented multi-use formula for hair and body. Dispel a few pumps (according to hair length) into your palm and apply in a scrunching manner from the ends (where it’s most dry) on up. Leaves a subtle shine. $40,

Go for the Faux Glow

Natural Radiant Gradual Tan

One of the more luxurious and actually pleasant-smelling (think jasmine and ylang ylang) self-tanners we’ve tested, this innovative formula from ESPA has a really nice creamy formula and is formulated to somehow work intuitively with your skin. Ingredients include color-creating plant actives and skin-nourishing sweet almond oil. $58,

Sun Specialist Sunless Tanner

This is a good option for those who prefer gel lotions, and it may be used on the face as well as the body. The addition of sweet orange fruit extract helps gives your skin a golden glow that develops in two to four hours. From the beauty wizards at Jurlique, this product is also hydrating. $36,

Glow Lotion

Available in formulas for both medium and light skin tones, this moisturizing lotion from Nature’s Gate is a good choice for the budget-conscious. While it takes a bit longer before you’ll notice any color (up to 24 hours), it works gradually and leaves a subtle “glow.” $11.39,
